gathered like a teatime
guaranteed a deep, deep
sigh & an eye-roll
over the clover leaves
from the greenest pasture
gone like a cuckoo
toodleooh then
since wore more pringle
& rediscovered ovaltine
since was slowly down
a grainy midlands town
vast glacial cracks
until one magic june’s
rainbow revelation
rebooted, regenerated
life on the patches
after the wife ran
off with the milkman’s cousin
todger intact
thank god for that, though

once upon a picnic
lemonade in hand
cheese & pickle me, please
if the which is sand
pardon then & marbles
as the peach is canned
daze a haze of gravy
in the greenest land
time is like the blossom
when the day is blue
we became a statue
speckled i & you
thee, the gleaming milksop
’til the pale is tanned
i stand on the bandtstand
but am not in the band

lo-fi in hi-fi
an astronaut in asda
dry robes in the midlands
pikes on bikes & scooters
bluebirds of inner-earth

unmatching socks
a hermitage indoors
up before the early birds
unjibby-jabbed
wobbles with each step
safety in numberless
solo jaunts
coffee stained brain
scattergraph that
cheese & pickle cobwebs
best before last century
like everything else
library lover
but under no yoke
claudine fork that
thoughtforms spur
bursts of brighter dawns
& mizzle in the midlands
excalibur
is a poundland pen
when is then now
i am not a cow
hazier than daisy
let the bellends knell
…

cobwebs for breakfast
trapped into a coroner
cue those dancing hedgehogs
& silent pyrotechnics
oh former covid wardens

mixing on unfolded decks
lounger sounds & breaks
folk on me sofa
chaise longue epics
& rocking horse beats

last seen on the moors
in a puddle of himself
watch your step walking

kosh o’ clock
quarter past curtains
ten to let’s be ‘avin’ you
every ruddy mayday
s.o.s p.m

last seen lost & wandering
without a cagoule
on a saint swithun’s eve
as the western then blew
grey clouds in some more
…
…
unbroken toes
velcro on both elbows
so the odd is off
greener than grass
yesterday’s grey sky
is stuck in the pantry
try diagonal
reallign us right
less trodden footpaths
those beyond the crossroads
the phantom first of many
last quarter moons
afternoons & mud baths
fruit bats & musical
obtuse interludes
beckon like cornflakes
or a flaming moth
& other plasma pals
risen is the oak
the birch is still a burk
pour more coffee
