for absent poltergeists

in the absence of

my poltergeist

who used to keep me

 up with fright

quite terrified

since gone all shy

i gave it a go

haunt d.i.y

so banged a wall

then smashed a plate

then had a nap

a good 'un - great

it's not the same

i miss you now

sweet poltergeist

dear ghostly thou

a little bird told me

a little bird told me

every evening roost

eat plenty of berries

& wear a pair of jackboots

a little bird told me

grow a cheeky little tache

in springtime find a mate

take the sudetenland back

a little bird told me

wash your feathers in a puddle

watch yourself around them cats

write a book about your struggle

& a little bird told me

every morning sing

oh & comb a side-parting

as per said bird's right wing
