chinese tea leaves in my checkers


monkey tundra - junk & jungles

hairy marches - springs & trundles

error margins - lines & headers

stinky stilton in my cheddar


tummy rumbles - pangs & tumbles

bullish beehives - stings & bumbles

otter tossers - lies & betters

woolen jumpers in my sweaters


misty systems - fog & jumbles

pissing chickens - clucks & stumbles

pigeon spittle - fucks & feathers

dearest messrs in my letters

flapping thumbs & drum breaks

rumbles in the sponge cake

battles in the apples

cackles in the mirth-quake


bramble bursts & mandrake

tremors in the handshakes

feathers in the heavens

redden in the tax breaks


cloudy cows & milkshakes

outage in the intake

thicket in the bracken

blackens in the daybreak


fading ink & hotcakes

nobody's in namesakes

patter in the shatter

patterns in the snowflakes


sticky bricks & muckrakes

dithers in the disc brakes

quivers in the scissors

rivers in the fishcakes


rising tides & sea snakes

wishes in the keepsakes

whittles in the antics

panic in the tea break

princes swim with tadpoles

pandas stamp on flagpoles

pigeons peck the odd socks

pillocks in the potholes


badgers din the bell tolls

bakers spin the bread rolls

makers meet their matchbox

briskly then the heads roll


wishes in the fish shoals

chicken cheese & flipped poles

panic pangs the padlocks

rusty pens the keyholes


monkeys mop the mole holes

otters sing in old scrolls

shepherds boo the blue fox

weasels weave in corn dolls


tossers tree the green knolls

pincers pinch in pinholes

whispers on the breeze blocks

smeary marks the charcoal


gubbins spoons the own goals

romans road the plod-strolls

dripping drops of what-not's

loopholes in me shoe soles

with blistered heels & swirling skies

& burning wheels in whirring eyes


with chequered flaps & standing stones

& chatters in those prattled bones

with saddle sore & horsey flies

& porky pies in lullabies


with apple carts & cobby corn

& poncey plods on foggy morns

with jammy jars & fruity highs

& drama queens with loopy sighs


with onion sobs & gleeful crones

& spittle in such sputtered groans

with falling leaves & butterflies

yes, this is when the summer dies
