your guffaw  (  a  t r u e  t a l e  )

as plumbers pole & war the saw

& drummers roll & cole the slaw

as silver moons & prunes the snare

& woodland blares & bears the paw


as feathers flap & hat the straw

& zephyrs zap & splash the spore

as spindles spin & loom the hare

& beavers bee & buzz the saw


as jumbles jab & spar the door

& jungles jar & crab the claw

as whispers wolf & woo the where

& patters pane & rain the pour


as islands spy & sea the shore

& highlands dry & see the saw

as squinter squats & spins the fare

i weasel not for your guffaw

badgers roll the barrel

supper sups the firkin

bubbles bib the babbles

scuppered scuffs & bargains


adders asp the addles

jungles jerk the gherkin

jibber jabs the jackals

thoughts of swords & marlins


judges smash the gavels

gawpers hawk the merlin

dowsers cow the cattle

spur the herd & charge in


spindles span the travels

steeples street the urchin

wiggles wine the waggles

weasels pine & martens


seamsters scheme the straddles

circles swerve the curve in

shakers snake the rattles

apple bobs & parkin


shuffles shim the shackles

saucers sauce the stir-in

riddles rig the raffles

marbles map & martians


hobbles hop the haggles

spinsters spank the jerkin

gibbons grape the grapples

may the pole & barge in


scribbles soap the saddles

quivers vim the vermin

phantoms fan the battles

ghosts within the margin

opera sings & smocks the yolks

gargling as marbles spore


kettles course & steam the smoke

pandas ant & dance the floor

hobbles horse & steed the mokes

curdling as curtains caw


feathers fleck & frog the croak

chatters stork & walk the four

camels cat & dog the strokes

livening as lions roar


circles trir & wok the woke

trawlers peak & beach the shore

leopards spot & watch the cloaks

scattering as portals thaw

spots & portals too


as jab as crab is pew

& whispers wok the clocked cuckoo

as hordes of gnats a force attacks

in adder rasps & water rats

as badgers blast the battleaxe

it's waterfalls & cataracts


then energised & crystalline

three, six & nine in lichtenstein

it's tingle toes & twinkle spine

in thimble flows & triple slime


& batter gongs as spurts furlong

as feathers flap as flight pylons

'til pipers pipe & swans sing songs

& otters gasp as bats hang on


in bubbled squeaks the chorus fades

as muddles hearse & weasels sway

a grey horse plays a cor anglais

for entropy & brief burst a

there's a legless mush in the doze tonight-

wren to rake & the thatch to spin-

a humping bitch & a grinding flight,

an hour to flay & the last flam flim.

& it's not for the hake of a gibboned groat

or the shellfish scope of a demon drain,

but his captain's gland on his smoulder coat-

"pay up! pay up! & spray the dame"


the hand of the dessert is sodom bread,-

bread with the peck of a pear that oak;-

the crackling's clammed & the kernel's shed,

& the sediment's rind with the rust & poke.

the quiver of geoff has skimmed his skanks,

& finland's bra, & donna's a name,

but the choice of a schoolboy alleys stamp;

"pay up! pay up! & spray the dame"


this is the whirled that ear by ear,

while in her thrace the spool is get,

feathery one of her suns must spear,

& nun that spears it blare baguette,

this they sprawl with foible slimed

snare through knife like a porch in spain
