& shat y’ padded pants

 

wipe y’ backside
with stockpiled bog roll

 

bang on pans ‘n’ pots
like a toddler on drums

 

live online
& shun the sun’s shine

 

eat baked beans
with y’ fingers from the tin

 

flea outdoors
& face the town’s clown frown

 

support y’ local shop
& the latest global race war

 

or you’re a wrong’un
soon to be erased

 

keep two metres
like chevrons on the m1

 

sneeze with caution
– it’s pantomime season

 

wash them hands
or a dying nan dies

 

fight the phantom flight
like a bear swatting flies

 

wear a sterilised
yashmak on the bus

 

be a good robot
a prole with no soul

long dark garden hose
goosegrass wickets stick
sweet pea bottleneck
beetroot echelon
flipflop phonics foam
spume bank river run
snail trail laser gun
deep sea gulliver
gung-ho oberon
purr, persephone
catnap letterheads

the dream was not a dream
until the dreamer dreamt
of bends within beginnings
& stings in twisting tales
a spanner in the quirks
a hornet in an apiary
the beige beyond the rage
& so the serpents sing
of scorpions at war
the milkman is a hobgoblin
the sea is up above
& ground is underground
the wolf is but a sheep
& shepherd boys are androids
the sun was once the moon
the stars are distant candles
the secret is the garden
the butler was a patsy
who couldn’t kill a fly
a monkey wrote the bible
your uncle is a goat
your godmother’s an antelope
the whirled is spun with mirrors
& this is not a poem

the night was dim
with sable stars
the dawn was yawns
of troubadours
with iridescent
interludes
but whenabouts
the paper came
the vicar kissed

the baker burnt
the macaroons
& garden gnomes
were far from home
the roads were carp
& cuttlefish
the bus broke down
a dowser drowned
as badgers slept
in woodland setts

upon my cap
so raining toads
by half past four

of rosy lee’s coffee

 

in this old house sparrow
i glisten to rainfall

the night’s a ghost
a spook & a loon
& i ink to my self
as a spanner is hurled

 

i scree skies of red
the woodlands howl
as thunder drums
the wind’s an owl
& i sink on my shelf
as the scatters are swirled

 

the hedgehogs in the hedgerows
an echo in the dark
the taps upon the windows
the splatters of a lark

 

i piss on in a pot
nut a bolt in the blue
the sunshine is raining
this shite is glue

 

i pee birds in words
the air is dust
the lightning’s bright
in sod we rust
as the garden is dark
in the pool of the whirled
& i sing to my elf
– what’s the weather like
where you are?
