f urther up the greasy vole

     farting parsnip foghorns

e venings gleaming out again

      easter stirs as serpents snore

b ringing light like phosphorous

      broken biscuit undertones

r oundabouts & bicycles

      rummage in the attic

u nicorns in unison

      uppercut the sunken sun

a piarys still buzzing zees

      apple blossom budding back

r ain upon my testing tongue

      riddles in a thermal vest      

y esterday was coddled eggs 

      yet the crocus focus eyes

beyond the clustered range is strange
another sort of creaking door
the stepping stones of droving ghosts
a plod upon a sodden moor

beneath a breathing shroud of cloud
a sleeping walk, a distant near
is glowing where the washing goes
the absent there of disappear

beyond a cycled song of swans
a winding river’s run & twist
a fumble in the flustered fog
& vanish in the gasping mist

the wisping wanders of the fay
a jot but not a pencilled trace
a garden in the gloaming’s dark
the flipping missing marble’s place

a hall of orbs, a sylphid sea
a spot but not the realm of men
another all is calling me
another when is dancing then

beyond the haring snare of time
& snooping eyes of watchful clocks
the hands of phantoms beckon to
the mythic land of pairless socks
…

rain pisses down

like another love sonnet

bees are sleeping zees

beats within me bonnet

drum but with a plum

not aplomb – but a fruit

legs are standing stones

gravel in me boots

pens keep running ou

muses on sabbaticals

time slides sideways

facing the greys

phantom ballads fade

salad in a maze-daze

home is pickled onions

hope is pebble dashed

air stagnates like

stare-offs with walls

one magpie

in the corner of your eye

lockdowns forever

cry compromised clowns

& all the leper-dodgers

in the mask brigade concur

a gift & a hazard

falling from clouds

midwinter rain

sighten mine eyes

sores before the thaw

pairing with hares

sheets upon the pastures

shades of hyperborea

here in the still

it’s heaven on worms

a dusting again

the spawn of a blizzard

the fresh fleshed bones

of abominable men

rhymer of crow

& ipso fatso

white just like ermine

but tangy if yellow

crystalline kisses

the dandruff of the gods

music in trench foot tempos
clopping on the roofs

wet from the welkin
symphonies in welly boots
for ghouls in cagoules

fodder for the bogs
from the kingdom of the frogs
the piss of the gods
