the passing of spring

~

the passing of spring  (  a  p o e m  )

sad bluebells ring in dimming clangs

wild garlic sighs by river banks

make little scent as blossom fades

mock-wintery

the faux-snow way

yet clement air & stretchy days

rise as that grass - make way for hay

i stop mid-plod - is this a dream?

here death's alive, death thrives

death's green

an ombudsman is born

~

an ombudsman is born  (  s o m e  n o n s e n s e  )

as baking beans beat tambourines

& welders wave at gravy trains

that bustle passed at savoury speeds

& badgers shave on grassy plains

as hittites plod on woodland paths

& carrots dance under some trance

whilst numbers crunch in charts 'n' graphs

& poltergeists adjust their pants

as dogs in clogs think thoughts out loud

& statues scratch a toe ( or two )

plus rabid bats they bite low cloud

& pebbles hide in lonely shoes

a town crier retrieves his tongue

then bell-yells on this speckled morn

good news to yous - songs shall be sung

rejoice

an ombudsman is born

unmoored stuff

unmoored stuff  (  a  p o e m  y e t  v a g u e l y  w o r t h w h i l e  )

this ship is unmoored

no heather nor gorse

the captain's called chris

not cathy earnshaw

no bilberries grow

on deck or below

no thespy types speak

lines from othello

no night creature howls

terrify its bowels

no bodies are found

no murder so foul

no grouse leck lest nest

in thick thermal vests

this ship is adrift

exposed to the rest

comb your palms

comb your palms  (  a  b a s t a r d  p o e m  t h i n g  )

comb your palms & style 'em smart

dye your palms - light tones or dark

feel it frizz-up in the wind

wear rubber gloves when you swim

plait your palms like girly bread

or perhaps pigtails instead

grow your palms coz summer's here

( trim your arse, nose, back & ears )
