wednesday afternoon ( noonretfa yadawndew )
…
wednesday afternoon
is dipping ginger nuts
in the vicar’s teacup
& watching the clocks
plodding like a slug
while the bus is late
like a dead actress
or a blizzard in june
furthermore she walks
up a muddy hill
underneath a buzzard
sploshing in puddles
strums a string vest
’til its out of tune
while the clouds growl
scrumps the doctor’s apples
types upon a qwerty
‘this is not my alphabet’
sweats like a führer
shivers in the mist
laughing with hyenas
high on nitrous oxide
as the earth whirrs
from noon until evening
…
Watching the clocks plodding like slugs is an interesting bit of imagery.

I think slugs works better, though I would perhaps reconsider ‘plodding’ as I’m not sure it fits with slugs or snails. The idea of a slug dragging itself around a clock face is a great image for a dragging day though.
